To better your understanding of non-clinical career options and/or facilitate your physician career change, today we introduce you to Peter F. Armstrong, MD, FRCSC, FACS, FAAP. Dr. Armstrong is Vice President – Medical Affairs/Chief Medical Officer for Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa, Florida.
Prior to his appointment, he was Chief of Staff of Shriners Hospitals for Children-Intermountain (Salt Lake City). He received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario Medical School. Dr. Armstrong is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC), Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). He also serves as the Chair of the Surgeon Advisory Board for OrthoPediatrics, an orthopaedic company devoted to providing anatomically correct implants and devices for children. He is a member of numerous professional societies and organizations, among them: Canadian Orthopaedic Association; American Orthopaedic Association, American Burn Association, American College of Healthcare Executives, College of Physician Executives, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. He completed the Kellogg Management Institute program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Leadership for Physician Executives program at Harvard Medical School. He has published over 50 scientific articles and book chapters, and over 30 scientific abstracts.
