Director, Medical Affairs

In search of a physician career change opportunity or a new non-clinical career? An executive search firm is looking to fill the position of Director, Medical Affairs, at a pharmaceutical company based in New Jersey.

 

Responsible for all medical affairs activities that support the development and commercialization of pre-launch, launch and post-launch activities for a new product.  Collaborates with the Director, Brand Marketing and the Director, Advocacy Development to ensure successful product introduction.  In conjunction with advocacy development – presents clinical data to support advisory boards; reviews grant requests for CME accredited programs that meet strategic objectives; develops a medical information request system; maintains KOL slide kits; actively participates in major conferences and manages the medical affairs section in the conference booth; liaises with KOLs and communicates new clinical information; attends social functions and serves as the main contact with medical education agencies.  In conjunction with brand marketing – participates in developing and implementing the brand strategy, including working with R&D on the Phase IV plan and the Phase IIIB and life cycle management plan; manages the MSL contract organization; takes the medical lead in publication planning; reviews promotional material for medical accuracy; understands the clinical trial program and all data aspects and is able to speak intelligently about the field and new ideas in research.  

 

The successful candidate will be an MD from an accredited medical school.  5 years of pharmaceutical experience in medical affairs or similar role.  Demonstrated track record of launching new products in a medical affairs position.  Strategic thinker for both scientific and commercial decisions.  Initiates contact with KOLs and is customer focused.  Excellent platform skills and effectively presents clinical data at advisory boards, etc.  Skilled in responding to difficult questions and is knowledgeable of the company’s position on all drug related issues.  Recognized as an expert in the field and is respected for contributions.
