Edward Ikeguchi, MD, a board certified urologist, former Olympic athlete, and published author, is co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of MediData Solutions, a company specializing in electronic data capture. Throughout these activities, he has remained passionate about painting.
Over the next few months, PRN will be featuring the artwork of this unique physician in an e-exhibit. In preparation for the unveiling of his paintings on PRNResource.com, Dr. Ikeguchi had these words about his interest in art:
“I believe that my background as a physician has been invaluable in creating work that approaches the figure from a unique perspective. Particularly when addressing difficult subject matter, my background helps me portray content with a positive ethos. I treat each painting as if they were my own patient, and in doing so, find myself absorbed in the lives and stories that live on through images.
My work strives to magnify aspects of the human form that often go un-noticed, sometimes deliberately; it invites the viewer to examine the border between playful and poignant. In this series, I am focused on pictures of people, many of them children, with malformations and so-called syndromes. While there may be subtle physical aberrations, each individual remains an emotional being, which resonates within the image.”
