There are very few people in the world who are both a medical doctor and professional stand up comedian. Dr. Russell Kennedy is one of them.
Dr. Russell Kennedy earned his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada in 1991, graduating as president of his medical class. After graduation he moved back to his hometown of Victoria, BC for internship and practiced emergency medicine & obstetrics until settling into full service family practice in 1993. He maintained his practice in Victoria until moving to mainland of British Columbia in 2004. Dr. Kennedy continues to balance stand up comedy, corporate speaking and the practice of medicine in Vancouver, BC.
Russ has been a corporate speaker since 2001, and since that time has given presentations to medical conventions and events across North America. He speaks to pharmaceutical companies and allied heath groups, providing insights into the mind of the practicing physician. Russ is especially proud of his work with physician support groups, addressing the ever increasing problem of burnout among doctors.
“Dr. Russ” has been a stand up comedian since 2003 and he has appeared on CBC and CTV Television. You can also hear him across Canada and the United States on Satellite XM radio, Laugh Attack, Channel 153. He performs 3-5 times per week at a number of venues in Vancouver, and has toured Canada with the Yuk Yuks comedy chain. Russ has been a performer in the CanWest Vancouver Comedy Festival in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
