We have gotten an overwhelming number of visitors and members following SEAK’s recent Non-Clinical Careers for Physicians Conference in Chicago, where PRN founder Michael McLaughlin, MD, was a faculty member in a pre-conference on “How to Find and Land High Paying Non-Clinical Jobs.”
The SEAK conference was a success, with over 240 participants convening to learn about non-clinical career options and how to pursue a career change. The attendees varied, from medical students and residents looking ahead at their futures, to practicing physicians re-evaluating their career goals and aspirations, to more senior physicians contemplating ways to achieve an earlier departure from clinical practice or continue intellectual pursuits following “retirement.”
As a physician who left clinical practice for a career in medical communications, Dr. McLaughlin finds the conference to be personally cathartic, sobering in the reality of how many other physicians are considering leaving clinical practice, yet reassuring in the knowledge that such physicians now have better resources to explore such options than he did nearly a decade ago.
