Crash Cart Productions, LLC, recently visited Bethlehem, PA, to film portions of “Heal Thyself,” a feature length documentary about the challenges of modern medical practice and the changing face of medicine as clinicians leave in search of other careers.

Ryan Flesher, MD, the Producer and Director, and Nancy Pando, LICSW, the Associate Producer on this film, recently came to the home of Michael McLaughlin, MD, founder of Physician Renaissance Network. The initial filming featured Dr. McLaughlin and his family, and then an entire day of filmed interviews followed.

The filmed interviews covered the PRN founder’s past experience as a student, resident, and practicing surgeon, as well as his subsequent transition from clinical practice. Dr. McLaughlin spoke about his experience as co-founder and co-owner of Peloton Advantage, a New Jersey-based medical communications company. The discussion then turned to Physician Renaissance Network and Dr. McLaughlin’s activities involving non-clinical careers, including career coaching, public speaking, and his latest writing endeavor – Do You Feel Like You Wasted All That Training?

Crash Cart Productions is still completing the filming of the documentary, which they expect to begin submitting to film festivals during 2008.
