The company’s therapies are used in the treatment of immune deficiency disorders, hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, other bleeding disorders and inherited emphysema.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
They are seeking an experienced pharmaceutical Medical Director to work out of their US Corporate offices located outside of Philadelphia, PA.  Prior pharmaceutical experience on a Medical Affairs team working with commercial products is required.

 

Guides Medical Science Liaison team in support of the US Sales and Marketing organizations. Acts as medical consultant on pre-marketing and post-approval issues for specific products in the US product portfolio. Responsible for design and implementation of clinical projects for late stage investigational and marketed products, and dissemination of product-related information to scientific/medical community. 
 

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1 Manages external Medical Science Liaison team, to provide support to US marketing and sales by insuring Medical Science Liaison professionals are contributing to company objectives to their full capacity.
2 Oversees strategy for the development of Phase IIIb/IV clinical trials, including interfacing with community though leaders, protocol design and evaluations, in specific therapeutic areas assigned. Drives projects to completion within budget, and resolves issues within a working group when necessary.
3 Interacts and organizes communication with internal and external bodies, including FDA – CBER, consultants to business unit, Study Approval Committee, DSMBs and CROs, on all aspects of company products.
4 Supports Commercial Operations by participating in creation and implementation of product initiatives for current products and analysis of potential new products and line extensions.
5 Directs Medical Science Liaisons as well as sales trainers in the preparation of written and oral educational materials on relevant topics, on an appropriate scientific level, to be given internally to the sales and marketing departments.
6 Establishes self as a strong medical/scientific resource internally and externally.  Maintains and actively renews medical, scientific and regulatory knowledge by staying current on industry research and trends. Communicates to the internal team on product information, including safety, indicated uses and ongoing research.  Functions as a resource for scientific information among constituents externally.
7 Facilitate scientific/medical exchange of information internally for the Medical Information function; and externally deliver emerging scientific and clinical advances through symposia and other medical educational venues, as well as contributing to the scientific literature through abstracts and manuscripts.
