The VP of Safety will build and manage the Safety Services team. Primary responsibilities will include: develop and implement strategic plan for safety offerings; provide industry feedback on potential new features that are aligned with market needs; build a coordinated and focused safety services team to successfully deliver safety services and build market share; promote and market safety offerings to potential clients via client meetings, participation in industry conferences and professional meetings; develop client proposals; manage Safety Services team in defining and interpreting analysis for clients; research drug safety topics; maintain current knowledge of all applicable guidelines and regulations relating to Safety and Pharmacovigilance in the US and EU; interface with Food and Drug Administration staff; collaborate across business units to support business goals. Qualifications include: a minimum of PhD in pharmacoepidemiology; medical degree or equivalent experience required; with 5-7 years of experience in industry drug safety or clinical trials; prior experience in a drug safety unit or clinical trials unit in the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical industry; knowledge and understanding of Pharmacovigilance and epidemiology; excellent oral and written communication skills, with established professional writing skills; proven ability to grow and lead teams; ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet project deadlines; ability to understand technical, scientific, and medical information; ability to interact confidently with clients and members of clinical, scientific, and software development teams; excellent interpersonal skills; experience with Windows XP and/or Windows NT environments
