The African Regional Youth Initiative (ARYI) and the Rural Center of Excellence (a project based in Tanzania) are looking for a qualified and enthusiastic volunteer doctor to provide medical care to rural residents in Ipuli Village and surrounding areas in Tanzania.
Here is the information from the idealist.org website:
“This is a unique opportunity whereby the volunteer doctor would live in a remote part of Tanzania while working with the community to deliver healthcare services to a population that has normally had to travel more than 80 kilometers to go to the nearest hospital.
To date, ARYI, the Rural Center of Excellence, and the community have built and are opening in a maternal health center, a medical training center, and a health center. The volunteer doctor would be based in the health center. In addition to providing medical care, the volunteer doctor would be part of a growing team from within and outside of Tanzania creating a model for delivering quality health care in a rural setting.
Requirements include:
• Medical experience
• Good health
• A high level of enthusiasm
• Previous work in a rural setting is a plus
• Minimum knowledge of Swahili an additional plus
Durations of program: 3-12 months. Applications are open throughout the year. They offer free housing, food, and local transport to/from project site. All other expenses such as for an international ticket, and visa and insurance costs are the responsibility of the volunteer doctor.”
